Abstract:We propose a simple technique for accurately estimating standard errors when comparing simulated powers of two tests designed to detect the same alternative. The procedure incorporates the correlation between the competing test statistics to yield reduced estimates of standard error. As a result, desired precision can be achieved with fewer replications when comparing correlated test statistics. The technique is applied to compare tests based on two popular rank correlation coefficients.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
