“…Yet, the MDCT technique employed here is that of a busy center with high patients output and we believe that the protocol used here reflects the accepted standard protocol in other busy centers as ours. Finally, our protocol doesn't include instillation of water enema which enables a better assessment of CRC [1,21,22].…”

“…CT has high diagnostic value for the diagnosis of sporadic colon cancer using either water or carbon dioxide as intraluminal contrast agent, with sensitivity comprised between 82% and 96% (RidereauZins, 2014; Sibileau et al, 2014;Soyer et al, 2012a). However, the exact diagnostic value of CT in the elective area of colon cancer in IBD patients has not been reported.…”

“…CT has a predominant role for the staging of colon cancer (Ridereau-Zins, 2014;Sibileau et al, 2014;Delabrousse et al, 2013;Soyer et al, 2012a) whereas, its role is more limited in patients with rectal cancer. Conversely, MR imaging has a major role for the local staging of rectal cancer Torkzad et al, 2014;Vliegen et al, 2005;Beets-Tan et al, 2013) although its use is not recommended to search for and to detect rectal cancer that has not been proven by rectoscopy.…”

“…DA was 76% for the first observer and 79% for the second observer. While a poor agreement (κ=-0.128) was found between the findings of pathology and the first observer, a moderate agreement (κ=0.436) was found between the findings of pathology and the second observer (12). In our study, RSM was histopathologically evaluated in 127 patients and RSM involvement was present in 4.25% of the patients.…”
