Abstract: Introduction: Insurance companies often mandate six weeks of physical therapy (PT) prior to approving MRIs for patients with atraumatic rotator cuff (RTC) tears. While this is designed to limit unnecessary imaging orders, it can increase healthcare costs and delay diagnosis and surgery.
