Accuracy Control in the Machining of Low Rigidity Shafts

Abstract: The study determines the most suitable pattern of alignment and fixing of low-rigidity shafts; it also presents factors that determine such choice. The part is fixed both by force closing and kinematic closing. A new method for machining low rigidity shafts is developed to control the elastic-deformable state of these shafts in a technological system and to produce parts with the required accuracy during turning. To implement this new developed method for low rigidity shafts, an apparatus is designed. The appa… Show more

“…The deflection of a semi-finished product that can be eliminated with the help of heat treatingstraightening, taking into account that the output deflection cannot be greater than the maximum quality value, is determined as follows: during the cooling the shortening of the semi-finished product should be less than the sum of elongations: (11) where: δ sp -shrinkage of fixture as a result of load caused by the reduction in the length of the semi-finished product, equal: (12) where: R e -limit of plasticity of material of semifinished product at 20°С, E u -modulus of longitudinal elasticity of material of fixture at 20°С, K s -ratio of fixture stiffness to stiffness of semi-finished product, δ wp -elongation of semi-finished product, at which the stress in outermost compressed fibre was not lower than the limit of plasticity of shaft material in tension, i.e.…”

“…Shaft-type parts with low rigidity are used in many contemporary machines, fixtures and other devices [1,6,7,8,10,11,12,13,14]. The continuous growth of production of low-rigidity shafts is determined by the growing production of precision machines.…”

“…Nowadays much of mechanical engineering industries apply critical non-rigid pieces (NRP) production increase of which is caused by blank and construction shape optimization, constant reduction of the produce steel intensity and constant increase of precise machines production. The problems of the NRP operating reliability increase is supposed to have significance verily at the moment [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]. The NRP processing has a few sides of fixes, such as significant resilient and residual deformation during all the stages, the technology system units low vibration resistance and admittance, irregular residual stress having place at all the stages.…”

“…They are characterized by a greater passivation potential in physiological solutions. Mechanical properties and corrosion resistance is determined by the chemical composition and structure depending on the type of technology and manufacturing conditions [1,2]. In this respect, cobalt alloys can be divided into casting and wrought alloys.…”
