Accumulation of Drugs in Tissues

Abstract: Drugs need to achieve an adequate concentration in their target tissues in order to exert pharmacological action. The concentration of a drug at any moment and in any region of the body depends on translocation of the drug molecules and the chemical transformations they undergo due to metabolic action. This article focuses on movement of drug molecules across cell barriers, absorption, distribution, and various approaches for drug delivery.
