“…The time period 2001–2006 represents the post-liberalization period and it seems that domestic companies have fully adapted to the LPG reforms and are marching towards growth after expiry of their gestation period. “…The government appointed committee to study the socio-economic and educational status of the Muslim community in India, known as Sachar Committee, found that Muslims rank somewhat above STs/SCs but below Hindu OBCs in all indicators (GOI, 2006). Other studies as well show that, the participation levels of STs, SCs and Muslims in higher education are found to be very low compared to the other SAGs (Basant, 2012; Basant & Sen, 2010). Moreover, the Twelfth Five Year Plan in its sustainable and more inclusive development goals professes particular attention to the needs of the SCs, STs and OBCs, women and children as well as minorities and other excluded groups (GOI, 2012).…”

Low expectations among Muslims, owing to a number of assumptions, frequently result in community remarks such as ‘there is no work (in government sector) for Muslims’ (Basant, 2012; Sachar Committee Report, 2006; Singh et al, 2009). This subject has been extended upon by posing three questions to the respondents, making this the third addition to the work.…”
