Drowning is death caused by asphyxia due to the aspiration of fluids into the airways or lungs, resulting in airway obstruction within 24 hours. One of the examinations to establish the diagnosis of drowning victims is a laboratory examination of diatom identification. This research aims to know the morphological description and types of diatoms that live along the Upper, Middle, and Lower Ciliwung Watersheds, to facilitate the identification of drowning victims found in the Ciliwung River. The research design is qualitative descriptive. The data in this study were the results of observations and analysis of Ciliwung river water samples at the Research Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine, Indonesian Christian University. The study's results found 17 different species at the Katulampa Dam, 19 at the Ciliwung Bridge, and 14 at the Manggarai Sluice Gate. From a total of 22 species of diatoms found, overall, the widest distribution was Nitzschia sp, Navicula sp, Fragilaria sp, and Cyclotella sp. The distribution and types of diatoms found are closely related to current velocity and water discharge, temperature, and river turbidity.

The drowning emergency is associated with respiratory and cardiovascular problems. Increasing public knowledge to provide first aid needs to be implemented. This study aimed to improve the ability of coastal communities to provide essential life support through participant modeling. The research design used was a quasi-experiment with a one-group pre-post test design approach. The number of samples in this study was 34 respondents. The research was conducted by determining the five models given. Then the model provides education and basic life support training to the respondents. The variables of this study were participant modeling and the ability to provide essential life support. The instrument used was the standard operating procedure for basic life support and observation sheets, and the research analysis used was the paired t-test.This study's results indicate that giving the participant modeling action has an effect and increases the average value of the respondents' knowledge and skills after being given these actions. Participant modeling can improve cognitive, self-confidence, and skills to form new behaviors, such as providing essential life support.

Desde épocas remotas la humanidad ha intentado revertir la muerte, tal como en el episodio mitológico egipcio cuando Isis devolvió la vida a Osiris respirando dentro de su boca. A lo largo de la historia se aplicaron con este fin diversos métodos, iniciando la reanimación cardiopulmonar moderna en la década de 1950. Al evaluar las causas de muerte, la enfermedad cardiovascular continúa siendo la que ocupa el primer lugar. Aproximadamente la mitad se deben a enfermedad cardiaca isquémica, las cuales ocurren de manera súbita en hasta el 50% de los casos. A su vez, la enfermedad cardiaca isquémica es la causa del 80% de las muertes súbitas. Se estima que cada minuto mueren en el mundo 11 personas por paro cardiaco súbito, la mayoría adultos. En hombres es dos veces más frecuente que en mujeres y se presenta a una edad promedio de siete años menos. El 75-80% de los paros cardiacos extrahospitalarios (PCR-EH) ocurren en el domicilio de la víctima. El ritmo inicial del paro cardiaco puede ser arritmia ventricular (fibrilación o taquicardia ventriculares sin pulso), actividad eléctrica sin pulso o asistolia. El 20-38% de los paros cardiacos se presentan con arritmia ventricular, siendo más frecuente en eventos presenciados por testigos que en no presenciados.
