“…A recent meta‐analysis of ACT for chronic pain found significant effects on pain intensity, depression, anxiety, quality of life, and physical well‐being (Veehof et al ., ). ACT is effective in adults (Vowles et al ., , ; Vowles and McCracken, ; McCracken and Gutierrez‐Martinez, ) and children (Wicksell et al ., , ; Wicksell and Greco, ), with some preliminary evidence in older people (Lunde and Nordhus, ; Alonso‐Fernandez et al ., ) with chronic pain. Our group found evidence for equivalent improvement associated with ACT and CBT on measures of pain interference, severity, and psychological outcomes in a sample of pain patients with a large age range (Wetherell et al ., 2011b).…”
