ACC Deaminase-Containing Rhizobacteria from Rhizosphere of Zygophyllum coccineum Alleviate Salt Stress Impact on Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Abstract: Plant growth-promoting bacteria are present in the rhizosphere, a soil zone around plant roots. An important mechanism of plant growth enhancement is the production of 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) deaminase. Three ACC deaminase-producing bacterial strains were isolated from the rhizosphere of the halophytic plant Zygophyllum coccineum growing in Al-Uqair, Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia. The strains were identified as Bacillus filamentosus, Janibacter indicus, and Brevibacterium casei based on 16S rRNA se… Show more

“…This may indicate that DPM17 is a nitrogen-fixing bacterium and possesses a nitrogenase enzyme. This observation is in general agreement with those reported in other studies [11,34]. Nitrogen-fixing PGPB can significantly satisfy nitrogen requirements for plants, thus improving soil health and crop yield.…”

“…The biostimulation properties of PGPB isolated from Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia, have been investigated. Bacillus megaterium and Enterobacter cloacae were isolated from Medicago sativa root nodules and roots, respectively [8][9][10][11]. Pseudomonas monteilii was isolated from Solanum lycopersicum [12].…”

“…Nitrogen is an essential nutrient for normal plant growth because it is found in amino acids, chlorophyll, nucleic acids, and crop production. The atmosphere are taxonomically diverse and metabolically versatile promising groups of bacteria such as Bacillus (Khalifa and Almalki, 2015), Enterobacter (Khalifa et al, 2016;Khalifa, 2020) Streptomyces, Sinorhizobium (AlAli et al, 2021, Pseudomonas (Aldayel and Khalifa, 2021), Delftia acidovorans (Khalifa and Almalki 2019), Janibacter indicus, and Brevibacterium casei (Khalifa et al, 2020). The number of PGPB taxa has been steadily rising in recent years.…”

“…Despite numerous studies having documented the potential benefits of rhizobacteria in the Kingdom, including in Al-Ahsa (Khalifa and Almalki 2015;Khalifa et al, 2016;Khalifa et al, 2019, Khalifa et al, 2020, few studies have focused on the role of rhizobacteria in alleviating salinity stress in plants. Recently, Khalifa et al (2019) been documented in the literature.…”
