Three species of cyprinids, i.e., Capoeta antalyensis (n = 112), C. caelestis (n = 99) and C. angorae (n = 178) were collected from the Anatolian Region of Turkey to carry out this investigation. A total of 389 specimens of Capoeta were examined for Allocreadium isoporum infections throughout the four different seasons of 2012. The prevalence and mean intensity of infection of A. isoporum was investigated in relation to the host species, the seasons across the year, host size, and sex. Two-hundred and twenty-two specimens of a trematode identified as A. isoporum were found in these fishes. Onehundred seventy-eight C. angorae were caught, and 70 A. isoporum were recorded in 8 of 178 fish examined, with prevalence and mean intensity of infection of 4.49% and 8.7% parasites per infected fish, respectively. In the 112 specimens of C. antalyensis, 73 individuals of A. isoporum were found, with a prevalence of 19.6% and a mean intensity of 3.3. As for the infection in C. caelestis, a total of 79 specimens of A. isoporum were found in 17 of the 99 fish examined, with prevalence and mean intensity of infection of 17.1% and 4.6%, respectively. Prevalence and mean intensity values in relation to host size and sex, as well as the seasonality of infections was analyzed and the results were compared with other studies. The trematode A. isoporum is reported for the first time parasitising three endemic species of Capoeta spp. in Turkey, adding to the knowledge of geographical distribution and host range of this trematode species.

This study was aimed to identify Paradiplozoon bliccae (Monogenea: Diplozoidae) in an endemic fish species Pseudophoxinus burduricus (Teleostei: Cyprinidae) and to describe parasite's prevalence and intensity of infection. P. burduricus specimens were collected between January 2014 and February 2015 in Doğanbaba Creek (Yeşilova-Burdur). A total of 60 P. burduricus specimens were examined for monogenean parasites. During the course of surveys, diplozoid specimens were collected from the gills of these fish and examined microscopically for identification. Paradiplozoon bliccae specimens were isolated from the examined fish. Prevalence, intensity, and seasonality of infection, age classes, and sex compositions of the infected population have been calculated. It has been recorded that the highest point of prevalence being in summer and the highest invasion value in the two-age class of fish. Hyperaemia, haemorrhage, and atrophy of the gills were observed during pathological examination of the parasite infested fish individuals.

For the first time, Longicollum pagrosomi Yamaguti, 1935, an acanthocephalan parasite, has been characterized with morphological, histopathological and molecular detail in farmed red snapper (Lutjanus erythropterus) in Taiwan. The diseased fish showed clinical signs of anorexia, emaciation and were gasping for air at the water's surface. Gross examination revealed extensive necrosis in the intestine and even penetration at the site of parasitic attachment, resulting in a large number of parasites being lodged in the peritoneal cavity, surrounded by black hyperplastic connective tissue. The parasites collected from the intestine were studied using optical microscopy, histopathology, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and molecular phylogenetic analysis. They were creamy white in colour, and were separated into their proboscis, neck and metasoma (trunk) under optical microscopy. Histopathological examination revealed ovarian balls (floating ovaries) inside the ligament sac and eggs within the egg sorting apparatus. The SEM images revealed that the proboscis had 11–14 longitudinal rows with 9–12 recurrent, backward‐facing, organized hooks. In the 18S and 28S phylogenetic tree, sequences of the specimens were identical to those of other Longicollum pagrosomi, in addition to the morphological features. Thus, we confirmed that the parasites belonged to Longicollum pagrosomi in this study.
