Academic entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial universities and biotechnology

Abstract: There are various defi nitions of an entrepreneurial university, yet there is a lack of agreement about its core components. This article defi nes the fi ve key characteristics of an entrepreneurial university based on examples of successful bio-clusters in the United States and Europe, and suggests an agenda for stakeholders.
