“…The ALERT Presentation process is associated with substantial scholarly output and dissemination occurs in a reasonable span of time. Both the overall percentage of ALERT Presentations producing 1 or more peer-reviewed journal articles (36%) and the percentage of ALERT Presentation-related abstracts leading to at least 1 peer-reviewed journal article (59%) are similar to, if not above, published statistics from more mature fields 4–9 . The starting point of our observations (ALERT Presentations corresponding to at least 1 conference abstract) differs somewhat from the starting points (all presented conference abstracts) of the abovementioned studies, and thus, the relationship between these statistics should be considered exploratory.…”

[4][5][6][7][8][9] The starting point of our observations (ALERT Presentations corresponding to at least 1 conference abstract) differs somewhat from the starting points (all presented conference abstracts) of the abovementioned studies, and thus, the relationship between these statistics should be considered exploratory. Still, our findings suggest that engagement in a structured mentoring process like the ALERT Presentation Process either before or in the early phases of a project may impact its overall quality, either increasing the likelihood of scholarship production or steering presenters away from the initial idea toward a more fruitful avenue of research.…”
