Abstract: Background: Cytokines and chemokines are known to be involved in tumor growth and progression of disease. Sialyl LewisX (sLeX), a ligand for adhesion molecule E-selectin, is known to affect inflammatory processes and an elevated level is associated with tumor metastasis.
