Abstract: BACKGROUND: Over the last 40 years, the incidence of breast cancer in young women in the U.S. has been relatively low and stable, but the absolute number of young women with breast cancer is increasing because of the growing population. Some epidemiological studies have shown that breast cancer diagnosed before age 40 have significantly worse overall 5-year survival.
