Abstract:Atherosclerosis is a chronic disease of the large arteries; mostly attributed to oxidative stress and inflammation. This results in arterial heart disease, and stroke. Animal studies using a variety of antioxidants strongly suggest that antioxidants may protect against cardiovascular disease (CVD).
