Abstract:In the US, the prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is estimated at 30 million, or approximately 15% of the population. Compared to Caucasians (CA), African Americans (AAs) have a higher prevalence of CKD, and faster decline in kidney function. Relationships between low socio-economic status (SES), area-level social disadvantages, and CKD are well documented.
