Abstract:Introduction: Phosphatidylserine (PS), a phospholipid expressed on the cytoplasmic surface of plasma membrane, becomes externalized during apoptosis and regulates immune activation. During our previous studies, we found that live tumor cells can express PS on the cell surface. We hypothesized that PS expression allows tumors to escape immune destruction, and blocking PS with annexin V (AnV) would retard tumor growth.
Materials and methods: CMS5 fibrosarcoma tumor cells were engineered to secrete… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
