Abstract:We report two microfluidic devices that combine filtration and immunoaffinity for the detection of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from peripheral blood samples of pancreatic and colorectal cancer patients. Our approach contrasts with most CTC isolation methods that are based either on cells’ physical property (e.g., size-based filtration) or on biologic property (e.g., immunoaffinity). The combined approach addresses the challenges related to CTCs’ heterogeneity in their properties. For instance, immunoaffinit… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
