Abstract 782: Fra2 Mediates Oxygen-induced TGFbeta-1 mRNA Expression In Adult Cardiac Fibroblasts: Significance In Myocardial Fibrosis Following Ischemia-reperfusion Injury

Abstract: Background . Transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGFbeta-1) is a key cytokine implicated in the development of cardiac fibrosis following ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury. The profibrotic effects of TGFbeta-1 are primarily attributable to the differentiation of cardiac fibroblasts (CF) to myofibroblasts.
