Abstract:Small RNAs (sRNA) are exchanged between cells and tissues by various lipid and protein carriers. Extracellular sRNAs regulate gene expression in recipient cells, including activation of pattern recognition receptors and inflammatory signaling pathways. Based on size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) fractionation of human plasma, a large proportion of extracellular sRNAs are detected in small lipid-associated ribonucleoproteins (50-150 kDa), a class of carriers that have been largely overlooked. Sequential fracti… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
