Abstract:Platelet activation at sites of inflammation triggers the secretion of molecules that induce the transition of atherosclerosis from fatty streak to an acute disease, featuring an increased vulnerability of the atherosclerotic lesion that results in plaque rupture and thrombosis. TLT-1 (Triggering Receptor Expressed in Myeloid cells (TREM)-like transcript-1) is a molecule exclusively found in the α-granules of megakarocytes and platelets and has a demonstrated effect in inflammatory responses. Upon platelet act… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
