Abstract:Background: Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) is detected in approximately 80% of Merkel cell carcinomas (MCC). A number of previous studies have shown that MCC patients are at a significantly increased risk to develop chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and vice versa.
