Abstract:Androgen receptor (AR) signalling is active in most hormone-refractory prostate cancers (PCa) and suppression of its activity impedes cell proliferation. We demonstrate that Hey1, a co-repressor of AR, is a potential therapeutic transgene for treatment of PCa. A replication-defective adenovirus expressing Hey1 under control of the CMV promoter was generated (Ad5Hey1; E1 and E3 deleted) and found to be cytotoxic to human PCa cells, both AR-positive 22Rv1 and LNCaP and AR-negative DU145. The doses required to ki… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
