“…More recently however, there are growing concerns over the high rates of thrombosis (16–34%), which can often lead to acute limb ischemia and require urgent revascularization. 5 ) Several trials have demonstrated that catheter-directed thrombolysis techniques are non-inferior to open surgical strategies with respect to acute limb salvage, and that catheter-directed thrombolysis in graft cases can be more effective than in native vessels. 6 ) However, the use of catheter-directed thrombolysis has also been associated with higher rates of distal embolization and bleeding.…”

“…Small stent diameter and stent placement below the femoral condyles are factors of a decreased patency. 4,13 The Viabahn 25-cm trial showed a satisfactory one year primary patency. 5 However, long-term results regarding a covered stent length with 25 cm and more are missing so far.…”

“…Multiple studies and randomized trials have been published in the last years regarding the heparin-bonded Viabahn (W.L.Gore & Associates, Flagstaff, Ariz) stent graft. [4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12] Most of these reports present one or two years results. Small stent diameter and stent placement below the femoral condyles are factors of a decreased patency.…”

“…Los nuevos dispositivos diseñados específi camente para este sector como el stent mimético, se presentan además como una herramienta útil frente al fracaso del balón 162 . 165 . La misma considera una combinación de juicio clínico con la interpretación cuidadosa de evaluaciones objetivas de la perfusión, las características morfológicas de la herida y la infección (Figura 4), la cual es necesaria para seleccionar adecuadamente a los pacientes para revascularización o con mayor posibilidad de amputación.…”
