Abnormal pressure dependence of the phase boundaries in TL/PEO/P(EO-b-DMS) ternary mixtures

Abstract: The cloud-point temperatures (T cl 's) of both binary poly͑ethylene oxide͒ ͑PEO͒-poly͑ethylene oxide-b-dimethylsiloxane͒ ͓P͑EO-b-DMS͔͒ and ternary͓toluene/PEO/P͑EO-b-DMS͔͒ systems were determined by light scattering measurements at atmospheric pressure. The phase separation behavior upon cooling in the ternary system has been investigated at atmospheric pressure and under high pressure and compared to the phase behavior in the binary system. The phase transition temperatures have been obtained for all of the s… Show more

“…Volume fraction of CNTs (VCNT) in the FFRC depends on the CNT diameter, the carbon fiber diameter, and the surface to surface distance between two adjacent radially aligned CNTs at their roots. If there are no other phases or materials in between CNTs, it is reported [13] that the minimum surface to surface distance between two adjacent CNTs is the equilibrium van der Waals distance, which is about 0.34 nm. Since in the PMNC material, polyimide polymer molecules fill the gap between CNTs and the formation of the interphase is also considered, the surface to surface distance between the two adjacent CNTs at their roots is considered as 1.7 nm.…”

“…For the constituent phase denoted by r, a\, a\, and a\ are the normal stresses along the principal material coordinate axes 1, 2, and 3, respectively; t\, t^, and e\ are the corresponding normal .,, 6) are the elastic coefficients. Several authors [10,[12][13][14] assumed a perfectly bonding condition between a CNT and the polymer matrix. Esteva and Spanos [14] emphatically reported that the imperfect bonding does not affect the effective longitudinal Young's modulus of the CNTreinforced polymer matrix composite and marginally affects the transverse properties of the composite for high volume fraction (>0.8) of CNTs.…”

“…Hierarchical approach for deadlock detection at run time is proposed in [7]. Here the PN is partitioned; the partitions are given local deadlock detection observers that are supervised by a global observer that leads to a hierarchical deadlock detection approach.…”
