Abnormal Gastroscopy Findings Were Related to Lower Meridian Energy

Abstract: According to the theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), energy runs through 12 meridians longitudinally up and down the body. The study objectives were to compare the meridian energy between subjects with and without abnormal gastroscopy findings. We applied a cross-sectional and correlational research design. The study included 1,223 participants who had their health examinations at a university hospital in Taipei from 1st August 2005 through 31st August 2007. Meridian energy was examined using a mer… Show more

“…20 The Ryodoraku mechanism can be explained by the viscera-skin sympathetic nerve reflex. [20][21][22] The impulses from the viscera radiate to the spinal cord. The reflex zones are then reflected onto the skin surface via the efferent sympathetic nerves and appear as a longitudinal connecting system following the classical Chinese meridian pathways.…”

“…Huang et al reported that participants with abnormal stomach and esophageal findings according to gastroscopy had significantly lower mean meridian energy. 1 The current study could be expanded in the future to include the possible normalizing procedure in elderly patients and those with cancer or chronic illness, who may show extremely low Amc. Figure 3 shows the possible tendency of balance effects on LU, PC, SI, LI, KI, BL, and GB meridians and the probable non-normalized effects on HT, SJ, SP, LR, and ST meridians in the present study.…”

“…An individual's health is viewed as a function of the level and balance of meridian energy (or qi and blood) running throughout the body via meridian channels. 1 Electrodermal instruments that provide electrical measurements at acupuncture points have been used for clinical diagnoses; in this context they can identify abnormalities in electrodermal readings at a particular meridian or asymmetries in measurements between the left and right meridians or between yin and yang meridians. 2 The scientific basis for acupuncture meridians is not clear.…”
