“…55,56 To sum up, both water loss and skin fibrosis caused by scleroderma can lead to a decrease in skin dielectric properties. 41,42,57 Therefore, the results of the decrease in the dielectric properties of skin caused by scleroderma shown in this paper can be verified by the conclusions of previous studies involving the relationship between the pathological processes related to scleroderma and dielectric properties.…”

“…The studies have shown that the bound water in the skin tightly adheres to the collagen surface, and the altered protein content of the skin in scleroderma lesions causes changes in the water content of the skin 36–40 . In addition, the skin moisture will decrease due to the increased transdermal water loss and decreased hydration of scleroderma skin 41,42 . The above‐mentioned previous studies indicate indirectly or directly that the scleroderma process involves the change of water content, which leads to changes in the dielectric properties of the skin that are closely related to the water content of the skin.…”

“…Psoriatic pathogenesis is almost completely blocked in mice deficient for IL‐23 or the IL‐17 receptor, demonstrating the significance of the IL‐23/IL‐17 axis 15 . Abnormal production of pro‐inflammatory cytokines is the driver of many inflammatory skin diseases, 17–19 which allows their use as direct disease models. Injection of the pro‐inflammatory cytokine IL‐23 directly into mouse dermis leads to the activation of Th17 cells and the development of psoriasis 20 and is used as another mouse model for psoriasis 17 .…”

“…The increase of these cytokines was an immediate response to SC permeability impairment, increased TEWL, and decreased SC hydration [26]. Moreover, IL-6 cytokine has been indicated in a wide range of inflammatory conditions, especially those affecting the skin due to abnormal epidermal skin barriers, thickening of the epidermis, and promoting dryness [27]. The release of inflammatory cytokines could activate mast cells and encourage the production of histamines and MMP-1 that caused the breakdown of skin collagen type 1 and contributed to skin dryness [28].…”
