Abnormal Expression and Prognosis Value of COG Complex Members in Kidney Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma (KIRC)

Abstract: Kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) is the most aggressive subtype of kidney tumours with poor prognosis as well as the increasing incidence rate in worldwide. The conserved oligomeric Golgi (COG) complex is an eight-subunit (Cog1-8) peripheral Golgi protein that controls membrane trafficking and protein glycosylation and plays vital roles in human disease including cancers. Therefore, to uncover the prognostic value of COG complex in KIRC, a series of databases, including UALCAN database, GEPIA database,… Show more

“…COG8 is the structural component of golgi-apparatus that functions in intracellular transport and glycosylation. COG8 level is negatively correlated with the survival of renal clear carcinoma patients (Zhang et al, 2021b).…”

“…Increasing evidence suggests that glycosylation-related genes are essential in carcinogenesis, progression, and metastasis of ccRCC. However, no studies focusing on the association of glycosylation-related genes with ccRCC prognostic assessment and molecular subtypes have been published [ 19 , 20 ]. In this work, we discovered a unique glycosylation-related signature made up of 16 genes that may be able to predict a patient's clinical prognosis and response to chemotherapy.…”

“…Nevertheless, since there are no studies between COG8 and DM, it requires further experimental validation. COG8 is a potential prognostic biomarker in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), and the KIRC patients with low expression of COG8 showed worse progression-free survival and disease-free survival ( 53 ). Whether COG8 can be used as a prognostic marker in DM remains to be explored.…”
