Ablation of prion protein immunoreactivity by heating in saturated calcium hydroxide

Abstract: Background: Prions, the infectious agents that cause transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs), are relatively resistant to destruction by physical, enzymatic, and chemical treatments.
