Ablation and thermal insulation properties of silicone rubber-polyarylacetylene-carbonwoven laminates for solid rocket motor

Abstract: Silicone rubber-polyarylacetylene-carbon woven laminates (SRWL) with two-dimensional structure were prepared using needled technique. The ablation and insulation mechanism of SRWL were investigated by oxyacetylene flame system, equilibrium swelling technique, thermogravimetry (TG), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Results showed that the molecular weight between the crosslinks of the interlaminar complex is reduced with the increasing of the content of polyarylacetylene (PA). SRW… Show more

“…The cured copolymer resins show a distinct T d max in N 2 . The T d max in N 2 of the cured PPSOA‐2 resin is 572°C higher than that PDMS, which has a maximum rate of weight loss at 528°C using a heat rate of 20°C min −1 16 . It indicates that the thermal stability of the PDMS can increase with incorporation of heat‐resistant PSA segment in the copolymer.…”

“…The T d max in N 2 of the cured PPSOA-2 resin is 572 C higher than that PDMS, which has a maximum rate of weight loss at 528 C using a heat rate of 20 C min À1 . 16 It indicates that the thermal stability of the PDMS can increase with incorporation of heat-resistant PSA segment in the copolymer. The decrease in the flexibility of the PDMS main chain effectively improves the depolymerization stability of the PDMS.…”
