Aberrant miRNAs Regulate the Biological Hallmarks of Glioblastoma

Abstract: GBM is the highest incidence in primary intracranial malignancy, and it remains poor prognosis even though the patient is gave standard treatment. Despite decades of intense research, the complex biology of GBM remains elusive. In view of eight hallmarks of cancer which were proposed in 2011, studies related to the eight biological capabilities in GBM have made great progress. From these studies, it can be inferred that miRs, as a mode of post-transcriptional regulation, are involved in regulating these malign… Show more

“…Gene-based association analysis showed associations with genes involved in neuronal differentiation/development, cancer, and susceptibility to neurodegenerative diseases. ZEB1 has been implicated in neuronal glioblastoma 35 whereas SLC25A33 has been associated with insulin/insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) necessary for metabolism, cell growth, and survival 36 and showed higher expression in transformed fibroblasts and cancer cell lines compared to non-transformed cells 36 , 37 . TMEM201 mice, which undergo accelerated senescence, exhibited an early onset age-related decline in antibody response and have a higher rate of mortality 38 .…”

“…The first case study explores the relation of miRNAs with bioentities in the context of GBM. A recent comprehensive review explored miRNA’s role in eight hallmarks of GBM ( 62 ). We explored the first two hallmarks of GBM in our case study and compared the findings using our interface with that provided in the review.…”
