Abdominal Manifestations of Lymphoma: Spectrum of Imaging Features

Abstract: Non-Hodgkin and Hodgkin lymphomas frequently involve many structures in the abdomen and pelvis. Extranodal disease is more common with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma than with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Though it may be part of a systemic lymphoma, single onset of nodal lymphoma is not rare. Extranodal lymphoma has been described in virtually every organ and tissue. In decreasing order of frequency, the spleen, liver, gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, abdominal wall, genitourinary tract, adrenal, peritoneal cavity, and bilia… Show more

“…23 According to Adonis Manzella et al the nodules are of low attenuation on plain CT and may show minimal enhancement. 24 Thus, triple phase CT has high accuracy of diagnosing a hepatic mass by triphasic CT-96.5%, value corresponding with Chauhan U et al, study. 25 It is …”

“…Associated findings include air bronchograms, angiogram signs or a halo of ground‐glass opacity at the lesion margin . Although mesenteric lymphadenopathy is often found in non‐Hodgkin’s lymphoma, the overall extrapulmonary nodal involvement is only 6% in pulmonary EMZBL . In the present case, the chest CT scan showed a mass‐like lesion with a halo of marginal ground‐glass opacity in the left suprahilar area, another similar but smaller one in the anterior segment of right upper lobe, and one consolidative lesion with air bronchogram in the left inferior lingula.…”

“…In advanced cases, bone marrow involvement can occur and is found in 13%–30% of cases . Mesenteric lymphadenopathy in non‐Hodgkin’s lymphoma is about 45% with only 6% extrapulmonary nodal involvement, including abdominal lymphadenopathy, reported in pulmonary EMZBL, which is a subtype of non‐Hodgkin’s lymphoma . Imaging diagnosis is challenging because many benign and other malignant lung lesions can display similar features .…”
