“…Idiopathic form is usually observed as accompanied to embryological anomalies such as greater omentum hypoplasia and mesenteric vessel malformation. Secondary form, on the other hand, could arise as a result of immunological diseases (SLE and sarcoidosis), infections (tuberculosis), cirrhosis, liver plantation, ventriculoperitoneal shunts, chronic ambulatory peritoneal dialysis, intravenous medicine administration, gastrointestinal malignancies, intra-abdominal surgery (abdominal washing using povidone), beta-adrenergic blocker use (proctolol), familial Mediterranean fever, protein S failure, and gynecological diseases (uterus leiomyoma, endometriotic cysts, luteinized ovarian thecoma, and ruptured dermoid cyst) [4,[7][8][9]. Various acquired factors play a role in its etiology, but the common feature is the development of inflammatory reaction inside the abdomen [1].…”

“…3,4 The primary form is more common than the secondary form. 5 The idiopathic/primary SEP was first described at the end of the nineteenth century and as primary SEP in the beginning of the 20th century, while the secondary SEP was first described by Gandhi et al in 1980. [6][7][8] After Gandhi et al described the first etiology of secondary SEP as ambulatory peritoneal dialysis catheter usage, different causes of secondary SEP have been identified.…”
