“…Early research showed that CK concentration in xylem sap increases rapidly in response to bud breaking chemicals and reaches a maximum level at the budburst in apple (Cutting et al, 1991). Genetic analysis demonstrated that forced condition either through LD photoperiod or treatment with HC can increase CK levels in the grapevine cuttings by activating the expression of CK biosynthesis genes ( IPT and lonely Guy LOG1 ) while downregulating that of CK catabolism gene CKX (Noriega and Pérez, 2017). Furthermore, temporal expression analysis showed that the increase of CK levels induced by forced conditions can upregulate the expression of cell cycle genes and subsequently raises the rate of cell division and cellular respiration, which are the major events preceding the activation of dormant buds (Noriega and Pérez, 2017).…”

“…On the contrary, hybrid aspen plants with increased GA concentration by overexpression of AtGA20ox1 continue to grow under short-day conditions ( Eriksson et al, 2015 ). In addition to its role in apical dominance/paradormancy induction, gene expression studies associate auxin signaling with bud dormancy release and growth resumption ( Anderson et al, 2005 ; El Kayal et al, 2011 ; Noriega and Pérez, 2017 ). On the other hand, modification of ABA signaling by overexpression and down-regulation of a poplar ortholog of ABA INSENSITIVE 3 ( ABI3 ) alters bud formation in response to short-days ( Rohde et al, 2002 ; Ruttink et al, 2007 ).…”

“…In addition, the wide application of proteomics technologies, such as isobaric tag for relative and absolute quantitation (iTRAQ) and tandem mass tags (TMT) [ 20 22 ], has achieved significant progress in dormancy regulative network research at the protein level. Dormancy-related regulatory pathways have been shown to be involved in the regulation of energy metabolism [ 21 ], phytohormones [ 1 , 23 , 24 ], cell division and growth [ 25 ], carbohydrate metabolism [ 12 ], signal transduction, oxidative stress [ 26 , 27 ], secondary metabolism [ 22 ], and epigenetic control [ 14 , 28 ]. A large number of coordinating key genes that regulate signaling pathways were identified.…”
