Abstract: Background Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting primarily the axial skeleton. Inflammatory back pain, spinal stiffness and limited spinal mobility are the characteristics AS, and can lead to structural and functional impairments and a decrease in quality of life.
