Abstract:Background
The 67 kDa laminin receptor (67LR) was the first non-integrin cell surface receptor for laminin isolated on laminin affinity columns from cancer cells in the 1980’s. Initially, 67LR is found as a cytoplasmic precursor of a 37 kDa protein, named 37LR, associated with the small ribosomal subunit. In human cells, 37LR allows the formation of the polyribosome complex and plays a key role in the initiation of translation. The mechanism by which the ribosomal protein becomes the 67LR mem… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
