A Zeolite-Like Zinc Triazolate Framework with High Gas Adsorption and Separation Performance

Abstract: The reaction of commercially available 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole (Hatz) and Zn(OH)(2) at room temperature produced a porous zeolite-like metal azolate framework, [Zn(atz)(2)] (MAF-66). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies of MAF-66 showed that atz(-) served as an imidazolate-type ligand, linking tetrahedral Zn(II) ions to form a noninterpenetrated dia framework, which contains a narrow, three-dimensional intersecting channel system (void = 49.8%) functionalized by amino groups and uncoordinated triazolate N a… Show more

“…4c). The CH 4 uptakes are 50.3 and 27.3 cm 3 g −1 under 1 bar at 273 and 298 K, respectively, higher than those of dia-7i-1-Co (35.39 cm 3 g -1 at 273 K and 23.97 cm 3 g -1 at 298 K), 8d and quite comparable with MAF-66 (50.1 cm 3 g -1 at 273 K and 29.4 cm 3 g -1 at 298 K) 18 which features high-density uncoordinated N donors. To the best of our knowledge, this uptakes are among the highest of reported MOFs material for CH 4 sorption under these conditions.…”

“…Low-pressure H 2 adsorption isotherms for NENU-520a were collected at 77 and 87 K, which are completely reversible, as shown in Fig. S7a 40,41 This result was attributed to the small pore diameter in NENU-520a, wherein overlapping potentials from two or more pore walls interact with a single H 2 molecule. 42,43 In addition, the uncoordinated N-heteroatom sites also aid in the low-pressure uptake by this material.…”

“…Framework flexibility is a unique advantage of MOFs,65, 66 which is not only interesting for the notable structural variations under external stimuli, but also important for their usefulness in a wide range of applications such as storage,67, 68 separation,69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74 and sensing 75, 76, 77, 78, 79. Actually, even trivial (unnoticeable or hardly detectable) framework flexibility has fundamental importance for luminescence, because the transient motion (vibration, torsion, etc.)…”
