A WSN Architecture Based on SDN

Abstract: Abstract:In this paper, we introduce software-defined networking (SDN) into wireless sensor networks (WSNs) for saving energy and smart management. We propose a generic architecture for the base station in a software-defined wireless sensor network. We also propose a general framework for a software-defined wireless sensor network where the controller is implemented at the base station. Lastly, we compare LEACH protocol and the SDN-WSN framework by discussing and analyzing, the performance and energy consumpti… Show more

“…In [11], authors investigated the possibility of introducing softwaredefined networking concepts into wireless sensor networks. They argued that the introduction of SDNs into WSNs could help solve some of the challeng-ing problems of WSNs, such as energy consumption optimization and network management.…”

“…Many of the tasks of the resource-hungry are transmitted to the controllers in a SDN-WSN because it has a power supply and examines the entire network. The nodes should not constantly send the message to discover the topology in SDN-WSN [39]. The controllers in the SDN-WSN make the routing decision.…”
