Abstract: The Matriarch Prof Mercy Amba Ewudziwa Oduyoye remains a household name and a prophetic voice when it comes to African women theologians. Mercy grew up in a matrilineal-patriarchal Akan culture and later married into a patrilineal -patriarchal Yoruba culture.
