A Wideband Cross Polarization Conversion Using Metasurface

Abstract: A cross polarization conversion (CPC) structure using metasurface over wide bandwidth has been presented for practical applications in this article. The unit cell of the proposed metasurface is made of metallic patch of single circular split‐ring imprinted on top surface of a metal‐backed single‐layer dielectric substrate. Full width at half maxima bandwidth of polarization conversion ratio (PCR) of 11.12 GHz is realized along with wide bandwidth of 9.92 GHz extending from 6.06 GHz to 15.98 GHz with more than … Show more

“…Metasurface plays a vital role in controlling electromagnetic (EM) wave and diversifies into several applications, such as absorbers, polarizers, cloaking, sensors, and many more 1‐3 . Recently the research in the terahertz gap (0.1‐10 THz) lying in the transition bands of the mm‐wave and optical region have generated interest due to the availability of high bandwidth and allocation of several users 4,5 .…”

“…In order to achieve polarization control through compact structures, researchers have shifted their focus towards meatasurfaces. In this regard, broadband linear polarization rotators have been reported in the recent literature at microwave frequencies [12]- [16]. Highly efficient transparent 90 • polarization rotator is achieved based on U-shaped periodic array using combined chirality and tunneling that operates over frequency range of 9.8-12.5 GHz [17].…”
