A wide-band guided-wave periodic multi/demultiplexer with a ring resonator for optical FDM transmission systems

Abstract: A wide-band guided-wave periodic multi/demultiplexer with a ring resonator for optical frequency-division-multiplexing (FDM) transmission systems is demonstrated. This periodic multildemultiplexer consists of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer and ring resonator. It has a Rat wide bandwidth and sharp cutoff regions. This paper describes theoretical analysis, design method, and experimental results of the multildemultiplexer. The fabricated periodic multi/demultiplexer with a ring resonator has 5-GHz channel frequen… Show more

“…To inject the optical signals into the photonic circuit, a grating coupler (GC) is used for vertical coupling with the accessing optical fiber. The ODF is implemented by a MRR-loaded MZ interferometer [18]. The OPS element is realized in a 4.25 mm-long interdigitated p-n junction, embedded in a silicon rib waveguide.…”

“…1. For system integration, an OSBF has been built by combining an MZI and an ORR [7], which are the same building blocks as used in the OBFN. Optical SSB-SC modulation requires coherent optical detection.…”

“…Another type of filter, the MZF, which is described in Appendix A, is used as an optical filter and an intensity modulator in optical communication applications [13][14][15]. Although the PBF and the MZF have been developed separately in the respective fields, the basic structure and the operating principle of the MZF can be thought of as being similar to those of the PBF [16,17].…”
