Abstract:Motivated by enabling intelligent robots/agents to make use of open-source knowledge resources to solve open-ended tasks, a weighted causal theory is introduced as the formal basis for the development of these robots/agents. The action model of a robot/agent is specified as a causal theory following McCain and Turner's nonmonotonic causal theories. New knowledge is needed when the robot/agent is given a user task that cannot be accomplished only with the action model. This problem is cast as a variant of abduc… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
