A Web-Based Remote Lab Platform with Reusability for Electronic Experiments in Engineering Education

Abstract: This contribution shows the concept and the steps of how we can create a Web-based remote lab platform with reusability capability that can be mainly used in engineering and science education for teaching electronics. Reusability is achieved in such a way that the platform not only allows the implementation of a variety of electronic experiments, but also it disburdens the experiment designers in their task of building the lab experiments as well. Moreover, the remote lab platform doesn't necessitate the creat… Show more

“…The FS‐DIERA is individually implemented by each student to perform FPGA‐based experiments with easy data retrieval, processing, and storage and was mainly designed to teach how a real‐time video processing algorithm works before its final implementation into a real application. Moreover, these types of experiments have effectively enabled students to interact with remote hardware set‐ups in order to achieve the educational objectives related to the acquisition of practical knowledge in many disciplines of engineering . Therefore, the FS‐DIERA tool enables students to perform FPGA‐based experiments within the classroom, with minimal equipment needed to design the algorithms and visualize the experimental results.…”
