A wavelength-switched time-slot routing scheme for wavelength-routed networks

Abstract: Abstract-Optical time division multiplexing (OTDM) is an effective approach to improve the performance of wavelengthrouted (WR) networks. Implementation of all-optical time-slot routing in OTDM-WR networks is difficult owing to the lack of practical optical buffer and sophisticated optical processing devices. In this paper, we proposed a wavelength-switched timeslot routing scheme that can be implemented with fast wavelength converters only. Simulation results demonstrate that the performance of the proposed s… Show more

“…A slot-by-slot fast wavelengths converter (WC) is proposed in [12] without using fast optical time-shared space switches. Two algorithms namely, first-fit and least loaded time-slot are proposed in [13] showing that gains in traffic load per node are seen to improve with the increase of fibers per link.…”
