A walking type piezoelectric actuator based on the parasitic motion of obliquely assembled PZT stacks

Abstract: In order to decrease the backward motion and improve the motion efficiency, a walking type piezoelectric actuator has been proposed with two ‘legs’ based on the parasitic motion of obliquely assembled PZT stacks. The structure and motion principle of the proposed walking type piezoelectric actuator are described, and its experiment system is set up. Experimental results indicate the proposed piezoelectric actuator could reduce the backward motion effectively. The minimum backward rate α= 2.26% is achieved unde… Show more

“…Large preload force of the rotor and the large mass of the inertia block can reduce the rollback motion and increase the load capacity of the inertia motor. As for the seal motors composed of one feeding module, one clamping module and one locking component, the properties of the structure, oscillation, and velocity as well as the complexity of control system are at an intermediate level between those of the inchworm motors and inertia motors [83][84][85][86][87][88][89][90][91][92][93][94][95][96][97][98][99][100].…”

“…Piezoelectric actuators are characterized by several advantages, such as high resolution, high response velocity, no magnetic field interference, compact structure, and low operating conditions (Li et al, 2021a(Li et al, , 2021bMirvakili and Hunter, 2018). Therefore, piezoelectric driving technology is widely used in precision systems including micro/nanoindentation, scratch testing, optical focusing, and micro-robots (Jalili et al, 2016;Oubellil et al, 2019;Qiu and Piyawattanametha, 2019;Ren and Zou, 2014).…”
