A variable higher bit approach to audio steganography

Abstract: Steganography is the art of hiding data in a medium without making it apparent that the medium contains a message. Various techniques for Steganography have been proposed in different mediums by researchers. The most commonly used form of Steganography is the LSB (Least Significant Bit) Steganography in which the Least Significant Bit of a byte is changed. Here, we propose a variable higher bit approach to Steganography with audio as our medium of choice. We present an algorithm which uses either of 2 consecut… Show more

“…Several steganography techniques have been developed recently. Some of them adopt data hiding in the time domain [27,28], frequency domain (e.g., Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT)) [6,29], or encoded domain (e.g., AMR, G.723.1, G729) [30,31]. Most of these techniques are based on least significant bit encoding (LSB).…”

“…Most commonly used technique for audio steganography involves bitwise manipulation of the cover object to embed the secret information bits. A very good approach for bitwise steganography is the Least Significant Bit (LSB) Steganography, where the secret information bit to be hidden into the LSBs of the cover object [6][7][8][9][10].…”

“…The hiding information, in addition to its application in steganography to protect property rights, is a means to make a hidden relationship. Depending on the type of function, researchers the different methods have suggested in the spatial domain and convert to audio steganography [6,7,8]. In the most of steganography methods, LSB methods are used to hide data.…”
