The manuscript presents a unified methodology for the engineering design of resonant inverters used for power sources to power various technologies based on induction heating. The methodology is compiled using the generalized consideration of electromagnetic processes in a series RLC circuit and the quasi-boundary method for the analysis of resonant inverters with and without reverse diodes operating in soft and hard commutation modes. On this basis, the transmission functions of the inverters are derived, and the matching between the parameters of the inverter and the load through complicated output circuits is also considered. The basic ratios for determining the circuit elements and their current and voltage loading are presented. The methodologies are verified using several computational examples, simulations and measurements from induction heating devices. The simplified design approach presented is useful for its application in power electronics training and also in the design of various devices using the principle of induction heating. Another important result is the achievement of formalization and algorithmization of the design process, which is a consequence of the application of a unified approach both in the analysis and in the design of a whole class of power electronic devices.

In literature, most of the electric circuits are found to be at integer order, which are unable to capture the involved uncertainties and memory effects. To understand these effects, the current study is focused on modeling and analysis of fuzzy-fractional LC circuit, RC circuit, RL circuit, and RLC circuit. Triangular fuzzy numbers are utilized to introduce uncertainties in circuits. The memory effects are considered through fractional derivative in Caputo sense. A hybrid homotopy perturbation method (HPM) is established for solution purpose, in which standard HPM is combined with Laplace-Carson transformation in fuzzy-Caputo sense. This leads to an excellent and well-organized approach to calculate numerical solutions in the aspect of fuzzy logic and fractional calculus. The results obtainedthrough proposed approach are validated by comparing them with already existing results in literature. Residual errors are also calculated across the domain of r at fractional order to determine the convergence and stability of electric circuit models. To study the dynamics of inductor, resistor, and capacitor on current along with fractional and fuzzy parameters involved in the electric circuits, contour and three-dimensional plots are constructed. Several plots specifying the fuzzy membership function of models across various parameter values are also demonstrated. The results achieved through this study indicate that He-Laplace-Carson method can assist engineers and researchers when dealing with electric circuits characterized by fuzzy and fractional dynamics.

The manuscript presents an innovative approach for the engineering design of resonant DC/AC converters used as sources of high-frequency electricity for a variety of needs: industrial and domestic applications, wireless power transmission, high-performance lighting, and more. The methodology is based on the generalized consideration of electromagnetic processes in a series resonant RLC circuit fed by a square-wave voltage source. Due to the symmetry in the form of the current in the AC circuit of the DC/AC converter, it is possible to generalize all their possible operating modes. This was realized by applying the quasi-boundary method to the analysis of resonant DC/AC converters with and without reverse diodes operating in soft and hard switching modes. On this basis, the transfer functions of the devices, which give the relationship between their output and input voltages, are defined and analytically determined. Additionally considered are cases of resonant DC/AC converters with complex output circuits, which are applied to match the load needs and the capabilities of the power electronic device. In this sense, the basic dependencies for designing the main types of resonant DC/AC converters using series and parallel load compensation are given. The effectiveness of the proposed methods is demonstrated through several examples, and their verification and validation is achieved with simulations and prototypes. The proposed innovative design approach is applicable not only in power electronics education, but also in the design and prototyping of a whole class of power electronic devices. The unification of design methodologies formalizes and algorithmizes the design process, which is an important step for its automation and for applying various optimization procedures to achieve certain goals.
