Aims: Remanufacturability Index (RI) was calculated to indicate the ability of remanufacturing conventional shaping into CNC machine tool through multi-criteria assessment methodology. Place and Duration of Study: Middle Technical University, Institute of Technology-Baghdad, Mechanical Techniques School, between 2021/2022. Methodology: Conventional shaping machines which are remanufactured-upgraded into CNC machine tools were analyzed to classify a group of seven remanufacturing-upgrading alternatives. Multi-criteria were defined include cost, time, accuracy and complex shape, reliability, processing range and efficiency and ergonomic. Weighting of importance of criteria and performance of alternatives were conducted by applying comparative literature analysis and machine tool remanufacturing experience analysis of mechanical structure of remanufactured-upgraded conventional shaping into CNC machine tool as well as alternatives performances scoring. Results: As many as the number of automated axes, as high as the Remanufacturability Index (RI) which is dedicated to remanufactured-upgraded conventional shaping into 2-axis to 5-axis CNC machine tool. Conclusion: Remanufactured-upgrading conventional shaping into CNC machine tool is of high remanufacturing potentials that satisfy conditions of technical, economic and environmental feasibilities.

Reliability Analysis of Military Vehicles Based on Censored Failures Data

The paper proposes a methodology of reliability testing as applied to vehicles used in military transport systems. After estimating the value of the reliability function using the Kaplan–Meier estimator, reliability models were developed and analysed. The neural model, which achieved the value of the correlation coefficient R exceeding 0.99, was determined to fit the empirical data the best. On the basis of the approximated reliability function of several models, the reliability characteristics of the tested sample of vehicles were determined. Plots of the failure probability density function for all three models had similar courses over a significant part of the function domain. A failure intensity function was also determined, which varied between models. For the exponential and Weibull model, the expected mileage between failures was calculated, which proved impossible for the neural model. The proposed methodology is capable of modelling reliability characteristics based on the observation of an assumed period of the exploitation process of the selected group of military vehicles.

The dynamic reliability of heavy-duty CNC machine tool beam is directly related to the machining accuracy which is challenging to maintain because of the gantry machine structure. It is important to evaluate the reliability and accuracy of gantry machine components, especially the tool beam. This research investigated the dynamic accuracy of a segmented beam of gantry heavy machine tool by studying the surface morphology of the joint surface. The mechanical model of a single asperity is established based on the nite element method. The elastic and the plastic stage deformation boundary values are obtained, and the contact model of the full joint surface is established by using the Gaussian distribution characteristics. The nite element model of the sectional beam is developed by transforming the contact parameters of the joint surface. The accuracy of the model is veri ed by the eld modal experiment. Additionally, the proposed model is used to analyze the impact of vibration on machining accuracy. The results revealed that the proposed model is highly reliable.
