A Trusted Resource-Based Routing Algorithm With Entropy Estimation in Integrated Space-Terrestrial Network

Abstract: Integrated Space-Terrestrial Network (ISTN) can effectively improve the global communication coverage and SDN framework in ISTN has emerged as a promising solution to guarantee the Quality of Service (QoS). At present, the researches on routing algorithm are mainly focused on the QoS parameters about resource availability and do not consider the impact of the network attacks comprehensively, such as DDoS attack. Plenty of available resources will be occupied by network attacks and normal traffic may be blocked… Show more

“…Integrated HetNets: Existing routing approaches in ISTN focus on QoS indicators but overlook network attacks (i.e., the trustworthiness of nodes) [198], [199]. To solve this problem, Guo et al [200] introduced a trusted routing model in ISTN, which is composed of satellite networks, terrestrial networks, and cellular networks. In this model, an SDN controller can construct a trusted resource matrix (TRM) based on entropy estimation by collecting the state information of each node, including IP address, service request and throughput.…”

“…Centralized models support dynamicity very well since a central authority can store the trust value of each node and update it based on observed evidence. They rely on a central authority, but only [200] demonstrates that its trust model is resistant to DDoS attacks. Decentralized models can well satisfy scalability.…”

“…The multi-layer satellite network model with SDN architecture meets QoS requirements and outperforms others in end-toend delay, packet loss rate, and network throughput. In 2020, based on hte trusted resource matrix (TRM), the work in [87] presented a trusted routing (TR) model to protect normal ISTN traffic from network attacks. In the process, the SDN controller constructs the feature matrix by collecting the state information of each routing node.…”

“…Compared with traditional NIDS, it can achieve higher accuracy of malicious traffic identification, but lower CPU utilization. To evaluate the trusted path, based on the traditional QoS model, the study in [20] proposed a TRMbased trusted routing (TR) model and a hybrid routing (HR) model based on TR and QoS model, which can protect the normal traffic in ISTN from attack. e authors in [21] proposed a software-defined Space-Air-Ground Integrated network architecture, which provided data relays for missions such as deep space exploration, ensuring the antisabotage capability of stratospheric communication, and established a large-scale information network with mutual assistance and complementary functions.…”
