A Trapped Mind: Case of a 25-Year-Old Female With Nmda Receptor Encephalitis

Abstract: INTRODUCTION: Anti N-methyl-D-Aspartate (NMDA) receptor encephalitis is an auto antibody mediated disorder against NR1-NR2 NMDA receptors, which are essential for the normal neuronal function. It is largely associated with ovarian teratomas in young women, however has been reported in extremes of age and in males as well. Our case report is about one such young female, presenting with new psychotic behavior with rapid deterioration.
